Independent & Proprietary Bingo Sites
Whilst it’s safe to say that most bingo sites are linked in some way, there are still a handful who like to go it alone. The best example of this is Tombola. In case you’re unaware Tombola only materialised on the scene because of Sun Bingo. Sun Bingo originally was powered by the Tombola platform but they upped sticks and changed platform, leaving Tombola to emerge from what was left. It seems ironic that The UK’s biggest bingo site is now Tombola and Sun Bingo have spent fortunes trying to become big via Gamesys and now Virtue Fusion.
The advantage of an independent bingo site (defined as a single site that uses it’s own software) is that you know you’re only playing with roomies of that site. For example you can login to Gala Bingo and be wagering against Mecca Bingo players in selected rooms. Login to Tombola and you’re playing against other Tombola players. Brands tend to network so as to offer more cash prizes to players. This ideal doesn’t work with respect to Tombola who regularly offer large cash jackpots to bingo players. In addition they have their own instant win and slot titles in Tombola Arcade.
Over the years there have been many attempts to break out from the usual mix of Dragonfish and Virtue Fusion sites. The success rate isn’t good though. Wonder Bingo moved from a social media platform to real money bingo but failed to gain traction. Meanwhile Amuso.com, completed with a Weakest Link style game, sunk pretty quickly. Bingo Godz launched to a big Brian Blessed fanfare, but hit the rails and eventually closed. Even Slingo Boom, a multiplayer version of the slots meets bingo game, didn’t attract rnough players to make it worth continuing.
But are the other independents? The good news is “yes”. BingoCams is the only site on the B-Live Gaming platform whilst MrQ launched in 2018 and aims to revolutionise online bingo. Additionally there’s the Intouch Gaming sites. We think all the sites featured here are worth checking out. Their biggest draw is that they are different to the the bulk of online bingo brands. Players also need to support these kind of sites. If new platforms don’t attract players then we’ll just be left with Gala, Mecca, Wink and Jackpotjoy. To be fair that’s not a bad thing, but they were all small and starting out once. It’s important to let new blood develop to keep thing fresh and moving forward.
