In 2018 GVC Holdings (now Entain), the owners of brands like Foxy, Gala, Coral and Ladbrokes, purchased the Cozy Games platform. Entain totally revamped the platform, closed down many old Cozy brands and moved Foxy and Cheeky from Dragonfish on to their newly revamped software. In more recent times Coral and Ladbrokes followed suit but this left Gala remaining on Playtech. The question “will Gala ever move” has now been answered because Entain have now made the switch. On the surface things look the same but what has changed at Gala Bingo?
What Has Changed At Gala Bingo
Gala have tried to make the switch to the Entain platform as seamless as possible. You can still login with the same details although do check in case any bonuses have been lost. What is most impressive is that they’ve taken games that are exclusive to them such as Coronation Street Bingo, Emmerdale, Coconut Island, Bingo Beats and The Chase Bingo and relaunched them. They’re not perfect replicates though and players will notice missing features – for example you’ll not see any archived clips of Corrie whilst playing! The graphics are also not as impressive as their original platform. This doesn’t effect game play but design is an area that Entain (and Pragmatic Play for that matter) could improve especially when compared with Tombola.
Say Hello! Wave Goodbye
Unfortunately not every game has made the switch and this is because they’re Playtech games! You won’t find the likes of Rainbow Riches, Housey, Fluffy Favourites 90 Ball Bingo, Deal Or No Deal 75 Ball and Playtech’s 90 ball DOND game. Joining the roster in their place are a 36 ball version of Fluffy Favourites, Entain’s own version of Deal Or No Deal Bingo and a 30 Ball room. Entain’s own Friends Bingo and Cash Out rooms surprisingly haven’t been added to the roster although we anticipate that they will be included.
Check in at Foxy, Coral and Ladbrokes and you’ll notice that they now share bingo rooms with Gala. Networked rooms aren’t new to Gala but players may notice less activity and smaller prizes. The networked rooms include Castle, Rush, Metropolis, 80 Ball and 75 Ball. These are joined by Fluffy Favourites and Deal Or No Deal. As far as we’re aware Main Event and City will remain as independent Gala rooms – at least for now! We’d not be surprised to see Coral and Ladbrokes for example start hosting Corrie Bingo as they have done in the past.
What Do The Players Think
Gala Bingo players have been expressing their views about the changes on Facebook and it’s not good news. Views like “It’s awful this new layout and very confusing”, “Cannot navigate, or switch easily between games”, “the site is absolutely awful now” and “sorry dont like the new format such a shame” are amongst the comments. In fact there didn’t seem to be any positive comments about the switch. Of course site changes always bring about a level of discomfort for existing players and with a few fixes Gala may be able to smooth the process for those frustrated by navigation and layout issues.
Alternatives To Gala
There will always be players who find this kind of platform change a step too far and will seek alternative sites to play. In our view the two sites that are closest to the old style Gala set-up are Buzz Bingo and Mecca Bingo. Both offer a good selection of rooms plus include exclusives such as The Voice Bingo at Buzz and The X Factor Bingo at Mecca. However we do suggest giving the new look Gala a little time to “bed in” and see what happens. Moving any site to a new platform is a massive undertaking but switching one as big as Gala with it’s exclusive games adds layers of complications. Hopefully Gala will be back bossing the bingo scene in no time.
