Our review for Tombola must be one of the oldest bingo reviews online. So it’s about time that we updated it. Tombola originated from a version of Sun Bingo. At the time The Sun operated a standalone bingo room that was unique but they decided to change tack and join Gamesys (and in August 2016 will join Virtue Fusion). However, The Sun’s decision left a gap and so Tombola was born. We kind of think that The Sun made a bit of a bad decision given that Tombola is now The UK’s No.1 Bingo Site.
Tombola remains independent, a remarkable feat given that it’s main competitors are all networked. They’ve not added expanded their own network, not resorted to adding a channel of slots and casino games. Instead they’ve focused on great games that are accessible to all budgets. Tombola also have been canny with their advertising having previously sponsored the likes of AFC Sunderland and Emmerdale. In November 2017 they sponsored I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Their adverts all feature actual players are also a big hit.
200% Welcome Bonus
New players to Tombola rarely receive a no deposit bonus. However you might want to look out for occasional free fiver offers. These tend to be accessible to all (new and current players) so there’s rarely any benefit in waiting for a freebie to arrive. There is a first deposit bonus though and this is currently 200% – deposit £10 and get £20 as a bonus.
Tombola don’t have a wagering term – but you do need £10 in your account to start withdrawals. Terms do apply to the bonus money though – for example you can’t use to play Hamster Race or tombola roulette. The bonus funds can’t be withdrawn either, and you may forfeit some bonus if you withdraw.
Big Choice Of Bingo Games
Games wise you can play a number of bingo variants – 50 ball, 60 ball, 75 ball, 80 ball and 90 ball are all available. In addition there’s Pulse (speed bingo), Cinco (card version), Picture Bingo, The Machine and Rollercoaster. For those players on a budget there are cheaper games available in Bingo Lite and a recently launched game called Paper. Paper now allows you to play from 1p.
There are some non-bingo games and these include Battleships, Lucky 7 and Bandit. There are a couple of casino themed games – Hamster Racing, Bingo Roulette and Tombola Roulette. There’s also a free game – Trio – which is available to play daily. For players who prefer slots and instants then there are games like Spin and Glow to be found at Tombola Arcade. By logging into Tombola Arcade you can also play a second game of Stars for free!
Promotions tend to focus on guaranteed jackpots with different games falling under the spotlight each week. Our advice is keep an eye on Tombola’s Facebook page if you like prizes as they do run regular giveaways. Note that these social media prize draws do tend to attract a lot of entries.
Tombola is available to play via mobile – an app is also available – plus there are regular promotions. The promotions tend to concentrate on guaranteed jackpots in a particular room, but you’ll also find linked jackpots on a regular basis. For more prizes and promos we advise following them on their social media pages.
It’s hard to fault Tombola in any way. They are one of the UK’s biggest online bingo sites and it’s easy to see why. If we had one criticism though is that in recent times they’ve not been as innovative in the games department. Pulse was the last new addition but we’d like to see more fun things like Hamster Racing. Still, it’s hard to think of any other bingo site that’s as good.
